Katey June Kirkland passed away unexpectedly on August 07, 2022, at the age of 18, after being struck by a drunk driver in her bedroom.

Born to Kevin and Amy Kirkland on July 4, 2004, Katey was loved and cherished as a baby. When she was around 9 or 10, she became obsessed with art and drawing. Some of Katey’s favorite activities were playing video games, drawing, painting, working with animals, and watching YouTube videos. She was going to be a senior in high school this year and most recently wanted to go to TCC/Texas Tech to study architecture. Our family was not expecting the loss of Katey or for her life to be cut so short so soon. We are devastated by this loss and will feel the absence of Katey forever. She was the light of our lives and a joy to be around. Her friends and family members call her dedicated, expressive, clever, quick-witted, creative, mature, an old soul, and kind. She loved thinking about the world and wanted to make it better. She will be forever missed.

Katey will always be remembered by her mom, Amy; her dad, Kevin; her uncle and aunt Keith and Shelly Kirkland; grandfather Tony Bissell; grandparents Ron and Margie Kirkland; cousins Lane and Reed Kirkland; and numerous extended family members and friends.
