Background

Hello all, this week is Kate's birthday. She was only twenty years old but such an old soul. I am in awe of her grace. Kate had a one of a kind soul. Very generous to all her friends and classmates at Classical High School. If someone was sitting alone at lunch, she would ask them to sit with her and her friends. Of course she never told me this, it was a sweet dear student at her memorial service that came to tell us. She was highly motivated to express the injustices and stand up to what is wrong in this world. She and I took this test, and her results showed she was a socialist. We laughed so hard when my results showed I prefer to be a socialist too. So many, many, times she would come running downstairs to her Dad and I, so upset about what was happening to people in the country. How people are mistreated. She kept us fully informed about the world and what was wrong! Honestly, she would have made a great spokesperson for many. She fully knew her feeling and was very glad to share them. How lucky we were.
Kate's talented art work is all over our home.
She was such a brave person in all that she experienced in her young life. Open-heart surgery on her second day of life. Another open-heart surgery at 2 years old. As she continued to grow, she never once complained, in all the years, all the Cardiology visits, all the heart procedures, all the many appointments and at such a young age. Kate was simply amazing!! So much courage.
Plus Kate was always proud of all her scars.

Also at age 7, she championed for the "American Heart Association Jump (rope) for your heart". (Gosh, she hated having the poster's with her picture pasted all over Glendale Elementary Grade school in Kentucky; but the students thought it was so cool !! AHA, they were so thankful to Kate for being a spokesperson and in the First Grade too! Since Kate was a vegetarian since age 4, it is very fitting that Justin recommended a no-kill animal center. This embodies her to a T!
** Also we are overjoyed Justin was a huge part of Kate's life. What a kind, gentle soul he is. He has remained and continues to be a gift to us !! He is, and always will be, a big part of our family... And best mate, Aliya, whom Kate had said to me many times, "Aliya is the sweetest and kindness person I know". Kate was so proud to say that about you Aliya. We are so grateful for your friendship and ๐Ÿงก your continued love, we always consider you a big part of our family : ) ** Kate's big sister Sarah, could not have loved Kate (or punk) any more- Sarah made Kate a huge part of her life! Such great times. Sarah included Kate in everything and importantly, shared in the friendship with Sarah's best friends and became 'a little sister to them'. Adrienne and Krista, and Lynne and Lee, Adrienne's parents she loved as well. Lynne was always saying "Kate the great". Awesome. Then the times Kate slept at Uncle Bobbies house ; she loved that!! and she made a few cards to her Uncle Joey ( but they didn't all make it over to your house/sorry ) I just came across one this week. Kate thought it was so cool having a fireman in her family. Then there is beloved Chester-Eddie and Sabrina. Kate raised them so gently from 7 to 8 weeks and would not move her legs for a long time, so as not to disturb them! I had asked Justin if he had any ideas on how I could keep her memory alive; he suggested working at a local shelter or donating to a " no kill shelter.โ€

I found one in Utah, you just have to see --the cat houses, unbelievable-- They rescue pigs, cats, dogs, horses, bunnies and wildlife too. Their facility is amazing.
Pls visit "Best Friends.org "
It is the largest no- kill shelter in the nation! I know one thing for sure is ; Kate taught me to be a better person. And Sarah is keeping me on my toes. Best to everyone!๐Ÿค๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’›
