Kason's obituary

Kason David Neighbors, age 18, was born on July 20, 2006, in Childress, Texas, to Lynn Neighbors and Lisa (Aleman) Neighbors. He passed from this life on May 6, 2025, at his home in Granbury, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Hope City Church in Arcadia, Oklahoma, with Terry Cuthbertson officiating.

Kason was a bright, funny, and silly soul. He was also incredibly charismatic, and his smile could light up an entire room. He loved video games and his dog, Cheski. He had a tender heart and genuinely cared for others and their feelings. He thrived on deep conversations and meaningful connections.

From a young age, Kason had a unique way of seeing the world. We’ll never forget when he was just 11 years old, passionately urging everyone in the family to invest in something called Bitcoin—he said it was going to be the next big thing. We all laughed, brushed it off, and moved on… and we all regret it now. He was right, and had we listened to him, we’d all be filthy rich today.

He had a way of making people laugh with his quick wit and sense of humor. His family and friends will always remember how he could find humor—or make a joke—out of anything. He was especially cherished by his siblings, who will forever hold onto the teasing, the inside jokes, and the deep, unspoken bond that only brothers and sisters share.

While we may never fully understand the pain Kason carried, we hold onto the love he gave so freely and the memories that will stay with us forever. Our hearts ache with the weight of his absence, but we will continue to honor his life by speaking his name, sharing his stories, and offering the compassion he deserved to others who may be suffering silently.

Those left to cherish his memory include his father, Lynn Neighbors of Wellston, Oklahoma; stepmother, Nancy Neighbors of Granbury, Texas; brother, Kenneth Neighbors of Granbury, Texas; sisters, Kara VanPatten and husband Daniel of Granbury, Texas; Kayla Neighbors and fiancé William McNatt of Cleburne, Texas; Jerrica and husband Brian LaLonde of Wichita Falls, Texas; Alexa Miller of Wichita, Kansas; and Monica and husband Lyeon Sanchez of Olney, Texas. Also surviving are his nephews and nieces —who were more like bonus siblings—Seth Boatman of Cleburne, Texas; Kenneth Sweeten II and KayLynn Sweeten of Granbury, Texas; Kendalyn Neighbors of Burleson, Texas; and his grandfather, Allen Neighbors of Childress, Texas. He is also survived by many other cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Lisa (Aleman) Neighbors; his uncle, Kenneth Neighbors; his aunt, Connie Proffitt Kohler; and his cousin, Kloie Heaven Dewberry.

Rest easy, Kason. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
