Bob's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Karl Eric Hughes, better known as Bob, who stepped into eternity on February 4, 2025. Born on October 4, 1958, Bob's life was characterized by his sincerity, generosity, likability, stubbornness, and a distinctive sense of fun. Bob was known for living life to its fullest and making every moment count.
Bob was a man of contrasts and complexity, which made him unforgettable to everyone who knew him. He could be sweet and generous, always ready to connect with others and share a laugh, but his stubborn determination and strong will were just as much a part of his character.
Bob took pride in running his family's flag business, putting in hard work to honor his parents' legacy. Outside of work, his adventurous spirit came alive whether he was riding his motorcycle across the country, fishing in deep waters, or hunting with friends. He approached life with quiet strength but knew how to have fun and embrace the wild moments.
Bob's family and friends knew him as someone who could be both fun-loving and fiery, he wasn't afraid to show when he was pissed, but his love and loyalty always shone through. He was a dreamer and a doer, someone who lived life fully, unapologetically, and on his own terms.
He cherished nature, finding peace and enjoyment in being near Lake Travis. Traveling was among his favorite recreational activities, with Big Bend being an annual trip. Bob had the uncanny ability to infuse joy and happiness into every adventure, making even the most mundane activities fascinating.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Deanna Hughes; his three loving children, Christene Chavez (Fernando Chavez), Kimberly Roland (Evan Roland), and Kyle Hughes (Aom Hughes); and his two grandsons, Benjamin & Bryce Roland. He was proceeded in death by his father, Robert Hughes, his mother, Renate Hughes, and his brother, Tommy Hughes.
Bob Hughes, may your soul rest in heavenly peace.
