I met Karl and Traudel in Seattle, when I was just 6 years old. I had to move with my father (an engeneer working with Karl in Boing), my mother and my oldest brother Gianluca and spend one year there. They were very kind and helped our family to adapt to the new american life. I always remeber Karl as a very sweet, peaceful, sometimes ironic, encouraging person and really affectionate towards us, kids! I rember perfecly their house, the little candles on the table, I remeber him playing the piano, and their beautiful garden. I had the chance to see Karl and Traudel again when I was 18 years old and we made a trip from San Antonio (Tx) to Seattle. It was really exciting spending some time with them! During the past years, I had the chance to talk with Karl on the telephone, he also listened my son Simone playing the piano. He appreciated very much his music and I was really touched from his nice words and precious suggestions for my son. I think he was a very special person, like few in the world and I'm sure that now he is listening to a beautiful music. He will remain always among my best memories of my childhood and adolescence. The same is for Traudel. With love, Valentina

I first met Karl when he was invited to a piano concert in my home by a mutual friend. He asked if I would consider co-hosting future house concerts with him. With his knowledge and love of music, I quickly seized the opportunity! Karl is and will continue to be greatly missed in Tucson.

I first met Karl on the 767 Boeing Airplane Program in 1979, which was a program in partnership with Italy. We spent a year together in Italy on the program and it was one of the most rewarding and enjoyable experience periods for me and my family. My wife, Carolyn, and Karl's wife Traudel also spent an interesting equestrian adventure for several days in the nearby mountain area of Naples, Italy where we lived. Karl and I have kept in contact with each other and also with several of the Italian Engineers, which we enjoyed working with very much on the 767 Program, via the internet. Every few weeks for the past several years we have met on the internet to chat with each other, and we even named our get together conferences, because of his suggestion, be called "Stammtisch meetings". He was very well versed in the soccer field as well as the music world and will be missed very much by all!
Carolyn and I send our sincere condolences and best wishes to all the family.
Sincerely, Joe Victor Kirkland, WA
