Papa Karl was a rebel in his younger years; often finding mischief along with the fun. He was a true born hippie – living his prime years through the 70’s. He often would talk for hours to his grandchildren about all of the wild times he experienced. He would spend countless of hours sitting around watching football and “wrestling” with Bill. He was good at the trade field although his health quickly declined and he retired. He spent his time piddling around the house he shared with his daughter, son-in-law, and two of his adult grandchildren. He was always heard to say “Man, the air sure is different up here.” when they would take trips to his oldest daughter’s home in Norman. He loved baking homemade cookies, and tending to his great-granddogs – Roxanne Michelle, Jordan Marie, and Rajamah Stacey. His “stray” cat, Pepper, always gave us a stern talking to when he didn’t leave her enough food outside. He loved his cutoff jeans and T-Shirts and would be so overjoyed at getting a new one. He loved oldies and rock music and would listen to all the good tunes when he was sitting with his grandkids. During his tenure as a Grandpa – he slowly started getting greatgrandchildren, that often made him cry tears of joy when he would meet them for the 1st time and had to leave. You could find him tinkering with a new appliance just to make sure it worked. Even if it wasn’t broke, “Gpa” would sure fix it. He loved walking through the house and bothering his granddaughter, Anna, as she was getting her nails done. He recently began going out to the lake and different random trips with his son-in-law Jon; and he would make it an intentional act to let Jon know how much he loved him and appreciated him loving his daughter. He was really good at math and loved doing his activity books in his later years. He loved God and always made sure to watch church on Sunday morning while drinking his coffee and snacking on his crackers & peanut butter. He would often be found piddling around the yard, messing with the pool, or sitting down having afternoon chatter with Vee, whom he loved so very much.
Papa Karl will be missed terribly. He lived a good 70 years with a lot of memories that we will cherish forever.
