Karin's obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Karin Kuskis (nee Moritz), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. Karin was born on July 20th, 1937, and peacefully left this world on April 22nd, 2023 with her daughters Ariane Kuskis, Pierry McLean and sister Margrit Neuenhagen by her side.  She will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and her unwavering belief in treating others as she would want to be treated.

Mom was a force to be reckoned with...a very talented artist, and poet, with a huge heart for children and animals.  She ran a day care in Kitchener for many years.  She will be missed by her children, Ariane, Pierry (Stan) and Trevor (Rosemary), grandchildren Katie, Ryan,Tristan, Spencer, Jason, and Carly. She had a special bond with her granddaughter Katie and treated her as one of her own children. She was born in Kiel, Germany July 20, 1937. She often told us stories of the war, running to the bomb shelters, or walking 5 miles to school, and how she wrote stories and made dolls for her sisters. Mom was  intelligent, elegant, artistic, creative, a little bit eccentric with a good sense of humour.  She was a talented seamstress and sewed a lot of our outfits, coats, dresses, etc... She could do anything she set her mind to. She was a great baker and baked the most delicious desserts at the Mayne Inn Restaurant on Mayne Island, BC.  Mom spent many summers at Chickadee Hill, Cashel Lake, Ontario.  She was an adventurer as she lived in Germany, Toronto, Kitchener, Chicago, Taiwan, Poland, British Columbia, Belleville and St. Catharines throughout her life.

Karin devoted her life to the well-being of animals. Her loving spirit, gentle touch, and infectious smile will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication that will continue to inspire those who carry on her mission to protect and care for animals in need.

In honouring Karin's memory and her lifelong commitment to animal welfare, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Ontario SPCA through the following website: https://secure.ontariospca.ca/site/Donation2?4502.donation=form1&df_id=4502&mfc_pref=T

Your contribution will not only help to support the valuable work of the organization but will also serve as a testament to Karin's unwavering kindness and compassion for animals.

As we celebrate the life and the lessons that Karin has left behind, let us not forget her fundamental teaching: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." It is through our actions, words, and deeds that we can best honour her memory and continue to make the world a better place for all living beings.

Karin was a talented poet.  Some of her work can be found here:  https://poemsbykarin.wordpres…

Karin, your light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew you. Rest in peace, dear Mom.
