Karen's obituary

Karen Lee Wirth passed away at her home in Napa on October 15, 2018.

Karen was born in Castro Valley, California, on November 13, 1965 to mother Helen and father Don Farquharson. Karen graduated high school in Union City in 1984 and held a variety of jobs, including working as a tech at Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa and several restaurants in Napa as well, including the Genova Deli and the IHOP.

Karen was greeted on the other side by her mother Helen, and her brother John, among many others. She is survived by her husband Tom Wirth, whom she married May 8, 1993; her father Don, her brother Dave (Peggy); her mother-in-law Bettye; her brother-in-law Larry and sister-in-law Keely (Brian); and nieces and nephews Becky (Logan), Cheyanne (Mike), Myles, Lacey, Joey, Alana, Cicalee, and Javian.

Karen loved music and enjoyed a wide variety of it, from Elvis to John Denver, from Glen Campbell to Def Leppard, with many artists and styles in between. She loved camping, especially in her favorite place in Plumas County called Antelope Lake.

Except for her family, above just about everything else she loved animals, especially dogs. Throughout her life she cared for many pet dogs, starting with Daisy in the 70s and ending most recently with her Chihuahuas Nita and Charro. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages a donation to charity instead, and because of Karen’s love of dogs two organizations can be suggested:

Muttville.org in San Francisco, or greymuzzle.org based in North Carolina. Both of these institutions specialize in helping older, more difficult to adopt dogs, and Karen would love that.

Karen, we will all miss you.

A celebration of life gathering if currently being planned.
