Karen Angela Small died unexpectedly on Friday, November 8, 2019 at the age of 54. She was born on February 25, 1965 in Kingston, Jamaica and was the daughter of Theresa Mclawrence and Wilbert Small. Karen attended Cockburn Gardens Primary School and Haile Selassie High School in Jamaica, where she excelled and was loved by teachers and fellow students. She migrated to the USA in 2006, where she lived in Alaska, Boston, Florida, Virginia and finally settled in Hartford, Connecticut. Karen was an amazing mother to her four lovely children, and they were her everything. She was the glue that kept her family together. Karen always found a way to ensure that she could take care of herself and her family. She was a caring, reliable, compassionate and considerate person who was loved by all. She touched many lives and was always helping and giving back to her community. Every year, she looked forward to her annual cookout, where friends and family would come out and celebrate with her. Karen was always reinventing and advancing her talents. She is known as a chef, baker, hair dresser and a healthcare worker. She was last employed as a home health aide at BESA Companions and homemakers. Karen was a spiritual person and she loved The Lord. She attended both the Calvary Church in West Hartford, CT and Rehoboth Church of God in Bloomfield, CT. Karen Small is survived by her children Kenyatta, Trevor, Altrice and Audley, her mother, Theresa Mclawrence, and her stepfather, Barrington Henry. She also leaves behind her sisters, Esther, Charmaine, Alicia, Lisa and Audrey; brothers, Leroy, Albert, Abdul, Earl, Ubert, Deon and Barrington as well as uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and well-wishers. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Rehoboth Church of God, 1170 Blue Hills Avenue, Bloomfield, CT 06002 .Viewing from 10am-12; service from 12-1:30 pm. The funeral service in Jamaica will be held at Hagley Park Seventh –day Adventist Church, 114A Hagley Park Road, Kingston, Jamaica, on November 26 2019. Interment follows at Meadowrest Memorial Gardens in St. Catherine, Jamaica. Donations are appreciated and can be mailed to the home at 317 Blue Hills Ave, Hartford, CT 06112.
