Karen's obituary
Annette Owens. She was the youngest of four girls.
Karen attended Little Flower Grade School and then graduated from Memphis Catholic
High School. She then proceeded to study Math and Accounting at Loyola University, New
Orleans, LA.
Karen began her career as a Bank Teller and Boutique Styling Consultant, later fulfilling a
diverse avenue of Personal Caretaking, and Cooking for several years.
Karen was blessed with two Sons who she loved dearly, Kalon E. Owens-Jones, (Nashville,
TN) and Kai E. Owens (who preceded her in death) and their father Isiah Jones.
Karen was a faithful member of St. Therese Church. She served as a Eucharistic minister,
and actively led in the menu execution, meal creation, and food service for countless
Church and Member functions. She served with her whole heart and it showed through her
presentation and delicious food.
When you met Karen, you can rest assured you would be greeted with a Big smile, a too
invasive question or remark and a Plate of great food!
Karen became “Mom” to many, many people and she was the epitome of that “Little Sister”
we all hear about or have ourselves.Karen had a bright light, an infectious laugh, and a loving giving heart. She loved traveling,
fine cuisine, and valued time with family. She combined these things over
the years and most recently as she made her way around the country
to adventure, eat opulently, and make time to lovingly treat family and
loved ones. Karen was sure to make you feel loved, special, and
seen. She is very special to all of us who continue without her in
the physical.
Karen’s love for family and friends placed a thread of
connection and community through the many lives
she touched. She loved deeply and pure. She will be
devastatingly missed by many. The love for her will
continue through those left behind.
Her memory will be cherished by her son, Kalon
E. Owens-Jones (Kenneth Earl, Jr); two sisters,
Diane M. Lloyd (Job Lloyd, Phoenix, AZ) and Lynn C.
Reed (Lynn M. Reed, Memphis TN); a host of nieces and
nephews, great nieces and nephews, other family, friends,
and those she loved, addressed, and treated as her own children.
