Karen's obituary
We announce with deep sorrow the passing of a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, Karen Mathews on April 24, 2026. Born on March 28, 1979, Karen was a beacon of love, intelligence, and sincerity, and she has departed from us leaving a void that can never be filled. Her vibrant personality, charm, and resourcefulness were some of her most defining traits.
Karen is fondly remembered by her loving husband, Nathan Mathews. Her siblings, Darlene Cagle, Vicky Sandifer and their spouses, Mark Cagle and Rodney Sandifer, also survive her. She leaves behind her in-laws Mary and Tony Mathews and her brothers-in-law, Mark and Bradly Mathews. Karen was predeceased by her mother, Carol (Jeannie) Walters of Mendocino, California and her Mother Evatta Blackwood of Vian, Oklahoma.
Described as passionate and loyal, Karen always advocated for treating others with the same love and understanding she desired for herself. She was a master canner and jelly maker, a skill she took immense pride in. She was a avid animal lover and enjoyed spending time with her dogs. Above all, her love for her husband and family was her greatest accomplishment.
The legacy Karen leaves behind is one of profound love and unity within her family. She exuded a radiant light that touched everyone lucky enough to cross her path. Her capacity to love, care, and understand were among her numerous virtues. She not only played the role of a wife, friend, sister, and aunt perfectly, but she was also the soulmate and the best friend to her husband and loved all of her children.
As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate her remarkable life and the enduring imprint she left on us. Karen's absence will be deeply felt, and her memory will forever remain alive in our hearts. In her honor, let us continue to share the love she so freely gave throughout her own life
