Karen Winifred Maguire, born December 16, 1956 in Burlington, Vermont passed away in Manhattan, NY, on December 3rd, 2025 after a courageous fight with cancer. She was the daughter of Allen and Eleanor (Gallagher) Maguire of Essex, Vermont.

Karen grew up in Essex Junction and graduated from Essex High School in 1974 and the University of Vermont in 1982. Following graduation, Karen worked for IBM in Essex and later in Boca Raton, Florida for a number of years. She moved to New York City in 1997 to complete her Masters Degree in Art History. Karen worked for Christie’s and the Metropolitan Museum of Art until retirement in 2016.

After retiring Karen spent many years volunteering at the Central Park Conservancy where she was awarded the Mayoral Certificate of Recognition. She also volunteered at the Metropolitan Museum of Art giving guided tours where she could share her passion for the arts with people from all over the world. She was an avid learner of religion, world languages and art. She has created numerous pieces of art showing her range of talent.

Karen leaves behind her brother, Allen Maguire Jr.( Donna) of Milton, nieces, Lindsay Falby(Peter), Katie Bagnall, (Rob)and three great nephews, Jameson, Brady and Brendan all of Essex, Vermont.
