Karen's obituary
Karen Wilhelmina Peleaumoku Ludloff passed away peacefully in Edmonds, WA, on September 6, 2025.
She was born on November 13, 1949 in Honolulu, HI, at Kapiolani Hospital. A proud graduate of the Kamehameha School for Girls, Karen excelled in music and was said to have the voice of an angel. She went on to attend Seattle University, graduating in 1971 with a degree in Education.
For Karen, teaching was more than a career—it was her calling, and she poured her heart into every classroom she led. Her principal at Martin Luther King Elementary, Searetha Smith, recognized this and encouraged her to work toward becoming a Head Teacher. Over the years, Karen taught at West Queen Ann, Wedgwood and finally Bryant Elementary, where she retired as Head Teacher. Along the way, she built lifelong friendships and left a lasting impression on students and families who adored her. What they remembered most was her warm smile.
A long-time Edmonds resident, Karen cherished her wide circle of friends and neighbors. She was passionate about the Seahawks, musicals, and her pets. Phantom of the Opera and The King and I were her favorites, and she could sing any tune from those productions. Fun loving and gregarious, Karen was loved by all who knew her. She will be dearly missed and will remain forever in our hearts.
Karen is survived by her husband Chuck Coon, stepchildren Tina and Charlie, sisters Cathy and Mary Ludloff, and nephew, Ethan Kapuaikahikinaheala Craft.
