Karen's obituary
Karen Michelle Iampieri Snouffer, 53, of Hanover, PA, passed away on June 9, 2025, after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. She was born on May 8, 1972, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Judith (Einwich) and Paul Iampieri. Karen was raised in Catonsville and graduated from Catonsville High School before earning her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Towson University.
She was the devoted mother of two daughters, Jesse and Skylar, who were not just her children but her best friends. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Chunks, her constant companion and “third child.” A lifelong lover of reading, Karen deeply valued education and the power of knowledge. She was a kind, gentle, and fiercely intelligent woman who touched countless lives with her warmth, compassion, and quiet strength.
Karen was a natural caregiver. In her early years, she worked as a nanny and later as a substitute teacher. Most recently, she served as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), a role she took immense pride in. Her coworkers often described her as a calming and thoughtful presence who made others feel safe and truly seen. She truly cared about every patient.
She loved nature, long walks with Chunks, and baking from scratch. She was passionate about women’s rights, environmental care, history and everyday acts of kindness. With an open heart and curious mind, she had recently begun teaching herself German and Spanish—always eager to learn and grow.
Karen is survived by her daughters Jesse and Skylar Snouffer, sister-in-law Kelly Jenkins, brother-in-law Jeff Snouffer, uncle John Einwich, and aunt Diana.
Her spirit, her softness, and her strength will live on in the memories of those who loved her.
In honor of Karen’s values, donations can be made to a local women’s shelter or animal rescue of your choice. And above all, be kind, don’t judge, and take care of the earth.
Details about a celebration of life will be shared with friends and family at a later date.
