Karen's obituary

Karen Hitchcock, 66, passed away on March 21, 2025, in Bradenton, Florida.

Born on August 31, 1958, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Karen lived a life marked by resilience, compassion, and an unwavering devotion to her family.

Throughout her life, Karen was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She worked tirelessly, often seven days a week, to raise her children on her own. Her strength and determination were matched only by the deep love she poured into those around her. Karen took immense pride in her work with the Manatee County School District, where she was known as a firm yet kind-hearted colleague who could always be counted on to approach every task with care and commitment.

Karen's greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Jennifer Still and her husband and children; her son Matthew Hitchcock and his wife and children; her mother Jo Ann Tuttle; her sister Kristine Tuttle; and her brother Robert Tuttle Jr. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Tuttle Sr.

A lifelong lover of books, Karen found comfort in reading. Her cherished collection of teddy bears brought warmth not only to her home but also to those who visited it. Traveling with her children and grandchildren created some of Karen's most treasured memories filled with laughter and love that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who shared them. One of the most heartfelt ways she expressed love was through food; cooking for others became one of Karen's most joyful acts of care.

A celebration of Karen's life will be held on April 20, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Bayshore Gardens Recreation Hall, located at 6919 26th St. W., Bradenton, Florida 34207. Snacks and drinks will be provided as friends and family gather to honor the memory of a woman whose kindness touched many.

May Karen's memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
