Karen's obituary
Ms. Karen Elaine Higgason, 73, passed away on April 17, 2025, in Clovis, California, the city where she was also born on January 6, 1952. Her life began and ended in the same beloved community, but the years in between were filled with meaningful connections, compassionate service, and a spirit that touched many.
Karen earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology from California State University Fresno. Her academic pursuits reflected her keen intellect and deep interest in understanding people and society. Those who knew her often remarked on her sharp mind—always ready with a quick observation or witty remark—and an equally sharp tongue that never failed to leave an impression.
Beyond her education and intellect, Karen was known for her gentle presence and unwavering kindness. She had a gift for making new friends wherever she went—whether human or animal—and brought warmth and humor into every interaction. Her generosity extended far beyond words; she gave freely of her time and heart, especially through her volunteer work with homeless pets at Miss Winkles Pet Adoption Center. There, she found joy in offering comfort to animals in need and companionship to those waiting for a home.
Karen’s family held a special place in her heart. She is lovingly remembered by her sister Janet and niece Kayce. She was preceded in death by her father Thomas and mother Pauline.
Her kindness and humor will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory bring comfort to those who mourn her passing and inspiration to those who carry forward the values she lived by.
In lieu of services or flowers, Karen’s final wish was for any donations to go to Miss Winkles Pet Adoption Center, at www.misswinkles.com.
