Karen's obituary

Karen Faye Jackson, 65, passed away at her home in Jurupa Valley on December 10, 2020. Karen was a very devoted Christian woman, who would speak about God and salvation with anyone. She will be greeted in Heaven by her parents, Billie Ruth and Waylan Leo Shepherd, as well as, her grandparents who went before them. She leaves behind a sister, Teresa Kay and her husband, John Godin. As well as, her precious daughter, Donna Smith, who was the light of her life and her husband, Rob Smith. Karen was an amazing Granny and will be sorely missed by her grandchildren, Tajanae, Aniya, Jacob, Josiah and Jaidyn. Her niece and nephew, Christie Herron and Richard Herron, and so many others who loved her dearly.

Karen was born in California in 1955. She was the elder sister to Teresa and the two were very close. They enjoyed pool time in the summer every day, followed by a game of Monopoly. This may be where Karen's affinity (and competitive nature) for board games came from. She attended middle and high school in the Southern California area.

Following high school, she attended nursing school, as she always had her sights set on becoming a nurse. She served as a nurse for over 25 years working primarily in convalescent hospitals caring for the elderly. This was Karen's true nature to always help and give to others.

Very dear to Karen was her relationship with the Lord. She rarely missed a Sunday worship and regularly attended Bible study and other church activities.

Most dear to Karen was undoubtedly her family. She had one daughter, Donna Jean, and the two were inseparable. Most people can't recall ever seeing one without the other. Even in her final days, they lived within walking distance of each other. They would travel to visit family, have movie nights, share holiday recipes, but one of their favorite things to do was laugh. And Karen had such a great laugh! Karen was amazingly giving and kind. If someone was in trouble or in need, she would take them into her home and treat them as family. She often thought of others' needs before her own.

Donna has five beautiful and amazing children and Karen loved each of them with her entire heart and soul. She had a special relationship with each one of them.

We will miss you Mom, Sis, Granny, Auntie and Best Friend. We know you are with God now and there is no pain and only joy. Until we meet again...
