Karen Fatchett-Wachter, a vibrant and loving woman, was born on January 5, 1961, and while surrounded by loved ones, passed on January 28, 2024. Known for her warm humor and profound love for her family and friends, Karen's life was a testament to the joy in cherishing the people around you. She was a colorful, fun and loving woman, whose favorite colors included a passionate red, reflecting her own vibrant personality.
Her life was enriched by her beloved family. She is survived by her cherished daughters, Nicolette Fatchett (Phillip Vanderwoude), and Lauren Pribbenow (Alexander Anton), and her doting mother, Patty Thornton. Karen embraced her siblings, Michael Thornton, Penny Ruggles and Sandra Curphy, with enduring love. She was a beloved aunt to her nieces Stephanie Hansen, Taylor Curphy, Sydney Curphy, Kayleigh Thornton, and nephews Justin Thornton, Seth Curphy, and Matthew Thornton. Karen also leaves behind her precious grandchildren, Katherine Marty, Jackson Pribbenow, and Lily and Mya Anton.
Karen was predeceased by her dear father, Michael Thornton, her sister, Penny Ruggles, her granddaughter, Sophia Pribbenow, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
She had a deep appreciation for rock and country music, showing her versatile taste. A fan of Stephanie Plum novels and the film Tombstone, she enjoyed the thrill and suspense in her entertainment. As a staunch supporter of the Green Bay Packers, she exhibited her competitive spirit and love for sports. Karen's favorite local spot, The Jetty, and her vacation haven, Florida, were places she loved to retreat to for relaxation and joy.
Karen's love for spending quality time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren, was a testament to her loving nature. She was dedicated to the cause of St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, showcasing her compassionate heart and desire to make a difference. Her life embodied her personal mantra of never letting a day go by without telling the people you love that you love them.
The legacy left behind by Karen is reflected in her greatest accomplishments - her children and grandchildren, who were her greatest pride and joy. Her loving, fun, warm, and funny personality will be deeply missed, but her teachings and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
