Denise Churchwell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2025, in Vero Beach, Florida. She was born on June 26, 1959, in Mt. Airy, North Carolina, and carried with her throughout life a spirited strength and a fiercely protective love for her family.
Denise was happily married to her devoted husband, Roger Churchwell, for 36 wonderful years. Together, they built a family rooted deeply in love, loyalty, and laughter. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy in her children: Angela Knight (Garrett), Callie Churchwell, Teresa Belle Churchwell, Brad Churchwell, and Brent Churchwell.
Her greatest joy was her grandchildren: Skyler and Jaiden Knight; Haley, MaeCee, and Samantha Neighbors; Leslie, Bradley, Cassy, Colton (Esa), Charlie, Caleb, and Cayden Churchwell. She was also deeply adored by her great-grandchildren: AriBelle, Alena, Camden, Colson, and Cayde.
Denise is lovingly remembered by her siblings: brothers Brad, Johnny, and Mike, and sisters Joyce, Katherine, and Teresa, as well as countless extended family members and dear friends.
Denise was a force to be reckoned with, known for her magnetic energy and unwavering dedication to those she loved. She had a remarkable talent for arts and crafts, enjoyed peaceful days fishing, and had an impressive ability to conquer any trivia challenge. Above all, Denise's friends and family knew her as someone who always showed up—without hesitation, without fail.
Her extraordinary spirit, strength, and love will forever be cherished and deeply missed by everyone fortunate enough to know her.
A celebration of Denise’s life will be announced by her family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to honor Denise by spending cherished moments with loved ones or contributing to a charity close to your heart in her memory.
