On July 24, 2023 Karen Balistreri, born in Geneva, New York, passed away peacefully at age 80 with her family by her side. She is survived by her two daughters Lisa and Janine Balistreri, granddaughter Lydia, (PA) sister Audrey Randle (NY), five nephews, Jeff (Karen) Randle (NC), Kevin (Mary) Randle (DE), Brian Randle (NY), Bruce (Chris) (NY), Neal Randle (NY) and two nieces Stephanie Stiles (VA) and Beth Johnson (CA). Karen was predeceased by her parents George and Winifred Johnson, brother Jerry Johnson, brother-in-law Mike Randle and best friend Caroline Brown. Karen loved being a mother and as a single mom, she raised her girls to be strong and independent. She was so proud of all they had accomplished on their own. Her love of children carried over into her work as an intake coordinator, child care giver, a family worker at Geneva HeadStart, and then most importantly to her, after moving from New York to Pennsylvania, to being a grandma for the last 15 years. She guided and assisted many families and touched so many lives with her wisdom, compassion and gift of caring. Long talks with family and friends along with her laughter will be missed by all that knew her well. A private family gathering will be held at a later time in the beautiful Finger Lakes of New York where she always called home. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Dementia Society of America or American Cancer Society
