Karalina's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Karalina A. Schmidt, a beacon of kindness and generosity, who left us on March 4th, 2024. Born in 1989, Karalina graced the world with her sweet spirit and touched the lives of all those fortunate to know her.
Regarded as generous, thoughtful and giving, Karalina made an impact on the world around her. Kara enjoyed reading, singing along to music, solving word puzzles and math problems, watching movies, Native American heritage activities, nature hikes especially in the Blue Ridge Mountains area, and her favorite flower was a daisy. She loved to travel and has vacationed in many places all over the world like Austria, Greece, and Italy. She often visited family in east Tennessee, Michigan, Missouri, and California. And some of her cherished memories were traveling to New York with her choir, visiting Amish country in Pennsylvania, and going to places like Gettysburg, Chicago, and Colorado.
Amongst her many accomplishments, one that stood out was her determination to receive her General Education Diploma (GED). Despite the challenges faced, she persevered and her hard work paid off, showcasing her indomitable spirit and affirming her belief in the importance of education.
In lieu of flowers, we kindly request donations to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (givenow.lls.org) donate blood/platelets at your local blood blank (these kept Kara alive for three years), or register with the Be The Match organization (bethematch.org) to potentially save a life. Kara’s donor was from England, but Kara’s body never fully accepted the donated cells.
Karalina is survived by her father, Karl Schmidt, US Navy (Retired) and currently with H&R Block Advisors, and mother, Cheryl Schmidt, an IT professor at Florida State College at Jacksonville. Sister Raina Durrence and husband Marc Durrence of Jacksonville, FL with nephews Logan and Liam Durrence. Sister Sara Schmidt of San Diego, CA and nephews Gavin and Riley Redrick; Brother Joshua and wife Kristin Schmidt of Leawood, KS with nieces Brie and Liv Schmidt.
Kara is also survived by her Aunts & Uncles: Jeff & Jennifer Cansler and Karen & Tim Pruitt of Tennessee; Ken & LyAnne Schmidt, Holly & Tadd Sprick, and Melodie Schmidt of Michigan; and Belle Schmidt & Mollie May of Massachusetts. Along with numerous cousins.
We honor and remember Karalina for the love and warmth she lent this world. May she enjoy her next adventure in heaven.
