Sending our sincere condolences to the Duarte family. (We'll see you again OG, be ready for a game of horse; and we'll have a fat one ready for us.) Much love always. - The Trujillos ( Boottz, Natalia & Baby Boottz)
I knew Walt in high school and shortly after high school (early adult years). I lived down the street from his family for a time (Balmoral Ave, Union City CA). Walt was a fierce competitor. We had some epic basketball games in the neighborhood and at the outdoor courts at James Logan High. Even back then, Walt had a big heart. I recall getting kicked out of the house for a time and needing a place to sleep at night. Walt gave up his giant bean bag chair in his room and let me crash there until I got my act together. He will be missed.

He truly was 1 of a kind

Sir Libra forever ❀️

Sending my warmest condolences to you, Kalana, and your family. I still have fond memories of your dad at Holy Rosary when we were students there. May he rest in peace! ❀️
Walter was a great friend and co-worker. I'll miss seeing him. May he rest in peace.Β
My condolences to the family of Walt. I wish I could contribute more. He was a wonderful guy who made people smile.
Walter was my daughter’s bus driver and I appreciated him so much. He cared for these kids on his bus and taught them respect and kept them safe every single day. Β He knew their names and the kids all felt as if they knew Walter too. He was a teacher and a friend. Their bus rides just won’t be the sameΒ . I was heartbroken when I heard the news of his passing as are the children and other parents. I am so sorry for his children and grandchildren who now have to go on without him. I pray for you and find peace in knowing you will see him again.Β
Big Walt didn’t have to be the principal or head coach or even a teacher to be a great role model for us at DV. He took time to get to know us, and that built credibility when he’d give us stern, fatherly talks. He got on my nerves a few times when he’d call me out on my BS and immaturity, but as an adult now, I appreciate his presence in my life as a teen. I think that’s the sign of a good man with the foresight and wisdom to do what’s right for the youth, whether they’re his kids or not. As a parent myself trying to be present in my kids’ communities, whether it’s school or sports, I’m so thankful for Big Walt’s influence. He didn’t need to be extra or try hard to be β€œthe cool dad,” he just genuinely cared, and the impact he made was just a by product. I can’t imagine how different DV from 01-05 would be without Big Walt. Walt and Kalana, I love you guys, and I’ll pray for your family’s healing and for your dad’s wonderful soul. RIP Big Walt.

Our family’s thoughts and prayers are with you all. ❀️
Walt was my neighbor, we grew up on Balmoral in Union City. So many memories, he was a good guy, a little crazy but passionate. Mostly, he loved his family and talked about his kids and grandkids all the time. Gone to soon, prayers to his family πŸ™πŸΌπŸ™πŸΌ
