Kaishonta's obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ms. Kaishonta "Kaykay" Arnita Zenon. A lively soul with a heart of gold, Kaishonta was born on August 27, 1987 in Lafayette, Louisiana and transitioned on April 30, 2025 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
She was a beacon of warmth, love, and generosity, always bringing a bubbly energy into any room she entered. She had an infectious spirit that uplifted those around her, making her a joy to be around. Her legacy is one of love and unending unselfishness, standing as a testament to her kindness and caring nature.
Kaishonta believed in the power of independence and had a drive to make things happen for herself. She held a deep faith in God, and her unwavering belief served as the guiding principle in her life. She often shared the importance of putting God first in everything, a lesson that left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
One of Kaishonta's greatest joys was the role she played in raising her little cousins: Alexa, Ke'Shawn, Aniya, and Kyzen. At their birth, KaishontaIt lovingly welcomed them into her life and took on the responsibility of being their guardian. Their well-being was always her top priority, and there was nothing too great or too small that she wouldn't do for them.
Kaishonta was preceeded in death by her parents Harvey Bowie and Clara Jean Zenon; her paternal grandparents Sonny Harris and Arnita Bowie; maternal grandparents Joseph "Kawee" Earl Zeno and Thelma "aunt momo" Williams-Zeno; and her aunts and uncles: Mary "Jenny" Jane Zeno, aunt Alice and uncle Charles Williams, uncle Lee Bowie, uncle Laforest Bowie, uncle Bernard and aunt Floretta Bowie, and uncle Johnny Bowie.
Kaishonta is survived by and left to cherish her memory her oldest brother Harvey (Laroshanthony) Potier and nephews Caden and Harlon and a niece Brielle Potier of Lafayette, La; her sister Iyanla Dixon and youngest brother Harvey Bowie, Jr and niece J'Morie Bowie of Mississippi/Alabama; aunts and uncles: Louella Zeno-Amos, Joseph "Squeaky" (Cleotha) Zeno, Catherine Siner, and Howard Arceneaux of Lafayette, LA; Bonita (Ben) Dixon, Marilyn Bowie, Roberta Bowie, Stevie Bowie, Scottie (Vicki) Bowie, Felecia Harris and Stacey Harris all of Alabama.
Kaishonta's beloved cousin, Carol Amos-Campbell-Robinson (Micheal) of Baton Rouge, LA , who was also a mother to her will dearly miss her radiant presence along with her cousins Flamica " Gina" Amos of Houston, TX, Alexis Zeno, Faren Zeno, and Andrea (Jacolby) Thibeaux all of Lafayette, LA. Kaishonta's presence will be definitely missed by her God children Karlos "Tookie" Campbell and Jailee Thibeaux. Her best friend Dedra Jackson will truly miss her and all of the cruises and shopping trips they enjoyed together. Kaishonta's co-workers at the 5 Dining Hall at LSU will also deeply miss her presence and infectious smile.
A Memorial Celebration to celebrate our wonderful loved one will be held on June 14, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Syrie Funeral Home Inc., 1417 E. Simcoe St.
Lafayette, LA 70501. We invite all who were touched by Kaishonta's life to join in honoring her memory.
The loss of Kaishonta leaves an empty space in our lives that can never be filled, but her lessons, love, and legacy will forever remain in our hearts.
