Justin's obituary

In Loving Memory

Justin Michael Stanley Keegan

Justin Michael Stanley Keegan, 42, of Saint Petersburg, Florida, tragically passed away on April 14, 2025. Justin was born on July 7, 1982, in Ware, Massachusetts, to Elizabeth Windyka Plourde and Kenneth Keegan. He graduated from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island, where he pursued his passion for the culinary arts. His culinary career took him many places, including working at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia, where the Masters Golf Tournament takes place. There he met Chef Bruce Sacino, who had an enormous impact on Justin's career. His journey also brought him to the beautiful coastal town of Nantucket, and internationally to France, Spain, and many other countries, where he expanded his craft and created unforgettable experiences. On October 5, 2010, Justin was honored by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, when Governor Steven L. Beshear commissioned him as a Kentucky Colonel, the highest title of honor awarded by the state, recognizing noteworthy accomplishments and outstanding service. In 2018, Justin fulfilled a dream when he opened his own restaurant, The Union, in Warren, Rhode Island, which he proudly operated until he moved back to Saint Petersburg. After returning, he continued to share his passion for food and his community by volunteering every Saturday at the Saint Petersburg Saturday Morning Market. Justin was known for his incredible sense of humor, his infectious laughter, and a smile that could light up any room. He had a deep love for cooking and cruising, and he brought joy to every life he touched. He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Windyka Plourde; his stepfather, Scott Plourde; his father, Kenneth Keegan; his stepmother, Debi Keegan; his fiancée, Vincent Ebilane Hermogino; his brothers, Matthew Keegan, Jordan (Jill) Keegan, and Andrew Plourde; his sisters, Brittany (Scott) Fleming and Kendall (Jason) Neumann and many aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces and extended family members and friends who loved him dearly. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on May 7, 2025, at Saint Mary's Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, located at 515 4th Street South, Saint Petersburg, Florida 33701. Justin's light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
