Justin's obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Justin Patrick Madden on July 22, 2024. Born on July 24, 1951, his outgoing spirit and joyous laughter have filled our hearts for 72 years. Justin leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication, a testament to his extraordinary life.

Justin was a generous, witty, caring, and compassionate man who touched countless lives with his benevolence and sharp wit. His life lessons were simple yet profound: take care of your family and find humor in everything. Justin was not the loudest man in the room, but he always made an impression on those he was with with his stories, personal anecdotes, and terrible dad jokes. Everyone who had the opportunity to meet Justin loved him.

In his professional life, Justin served the San Francisco Police Department with unswerving commitment for 33 years. His service was not only a job but a calling, as he devoted his life to protecting and serving his community. His dedication earned him the respect and admiration of his peers and superiors, underscoring his remarkable career.

Beyond his professional achievements, Justin was a keen learner interested in military history, especially the Civil War. He found immense joy in sharing his knowledge and enjoyed reenactments through the NCWA.  His artistic talents were largely self-taught, making each creation a unique expression of his free-spirited personality. Later in life took on building military models combining two of his loves. As an avid collector, he leaves behind an impressive collection of patches from police and fire departments from all over the world as well as a collection of books that speak to his passions.

Justin was preceded in death by his loving wife Annie Madden, the bond of their love remaining unbroken. While Justin was just days shy of celebrating his 73rd birthday, it brought peace to those he leaves behind to know he was celebrating once again with his only love.

His legacy carries on in his daughters Megan and Erin Madden, who inherit their father's strength and resolve. He also leaves behind supportive siblings - Eileen Madden, his sister, and Brendan Madden, his brother along with many loving in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

Our hearts go out to all those who were privileged to know Justin. His spirit, laughter, and love will remain with us forever. And through his profound impact on our lives, Justin Madden's legacy will continue to live on.
