Justin's obituary
Justin James Lucas, born September 15th, 1977, passed away on March 8th, 2022, at the age of 44, which is entirely too young. A resident of Newnan, GA at the time of his death, he is originally from Salem, OH (“We’re in the ‘zit’ at the top of Columbiana County” as he would say).
Like many men from Ohio, Justin had an unhealthy obsession with all things Ohio State, Browns, Cavs, Tribe, and his high school team the Quakers. He migrated to the South about 20 years ago and would regularly get into arguments about who was better, the Big 10 or the SEC. Needless to say, this became his wife’s (a graduate of the University of Georgia) favorite go-to when she really wanted to rile him up.
Justin was very gifted when it came to IT/tech and enjoyed tinkering with gadgets as well as playing online and mobile games with his kids. He was a minimalist and was incredibly clean, meticulous, and organized (OCD). This is especially funny because he married a woman who has ADD, starts and stops creative projects on the regular, and thrives in clutter. He was very proud of his “troop” of different vacuums and even trained his cat Cleo to tolerate the handheld one so he could vacuum her to keep her from shedding everywhere.
People gravitated toward Justin as he was incredibly charismatic and funny and could get away with saying things that would get most others in trouble, but when Justin said it, it was charming. He was a renaissance man with an eclectic set of tastes including sports, Broadway shows, meteorology, classical music, cosmology, and a “slight” fixation on the movie Titanic when he was in high school.
Justin is survived by his wife Kelly, daughter Natalie, son Joey, mother Karen, step-father Jim, and sister Lisa and her children.
A short church service will be held at Bunker Hill United Methodist Church at 2pm on March 23rd, followed by a celebration of life that same evening at the Salem Community Center from 6pm-9pm.
