Dido's obituary
Obituary
Julio Lazaro Cruz (Dido, Julito), 58 years old, died in Laceyville, PA, on August 11th, 2023, of mental health.
Julio Lazaro Cruz was born December 22, 1964, at Lincoln Hospital to mother Gladys Cruz and father Julio Cruz. Growing up, Julio was the third oldest of four children, always having a kind heart and defending his sister especially his older sis who often got into trouble. He was a dreamer. As a child, he wanted to be an architect; although he wasn't an architect, Julio was very handy with his hands and could build or fix anything.
As a child, Julio was always stylish, even until adulthood. In his teenage years, he was the first person to rock the British Walkers then; those were the Jordan's of that era. He grew up fascinated with sneakers, always on top of the latest looks. Jordan's was his favorite sneaker of choice. Showing the younger kids in his neighborhood his sense style made them look up to him.
Throughout his teenage years, he fell in love with his then-girlfriend, Luz Selly Velez. Some will call it young love, but the most beautiful thing about young love is the truth is in their hearts, and it will last forever. Julio and Selly had the role of raising his two young nieces, Megan and Maylene. As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise children.
Julio later had a child of his own, Ashley Cruz, his only daughter. When Ashley was born, it was like having a best friend. They often spent time at home battling each other with video games, he taught her so well that she would whip his a** endlessly. which created her love for animation. He shaped her into becoming the woman she is today, an artist.
Anyone who knows Julio knows that he loved the Lord of the Ring; he loved it so much he would recite it and make all his nieces and daughter too.
Julio was a comedian, always joking, having pet names for his family. Julio was a jokester; one of our funniest memories was when he would cup his fart and run across the room and throw it at you. Or make fun of his mother, saying oh, oh, Que La Las De Dios Sea Aquí.
But most of all Julio was a great friend. He loved his Grand Avenue family, and his Pennsylvania proctor and gamble crew. He had a huge heart, always lending a hand.
Julio graduated from All Hallows High School in the summer of 1981 he had a scholarship to Johnson and Wales College where he played basketball and later went to the U.S NAVY.
Julio worked at Proctor and Gamble where he made great work friends who he enjoyed spending time laughing and joking with.
Julio lived with his long-term girlfriend Fay Pedro who he loved dearly. He had three boys Bowen, Jubei, and Aragon who he loved immensely.
Julio’s hobbies included playing video games, comedy, basketball, and loved fantasy movies, even naming his son Aragon after Lord of the Rings.
