Juliene's obituary

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the departure of our beloved Juliene Motah, who was lovingly called home on May 28, 2025. Born on the 24th of August, 1932, Juliene lived a fulfilling and remarkable life. She was predeceased by her parents, Leon Motah and Daisy Perdasofpy, her siblings, Earl Burgess, James Motah, Barbra Dawonski, Jessie Mendoza Rosa, and Hamond Motah, Sandra Karty, Carol Kahrah, and Teddy Burgess, her children, Gloria Yback and Frank Gutierrez Jr, as well as her grandchildren Fauna Guiterrez and Terry Jake.

Juliene leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of her daughters Barbara Tafoya, Bianca Gutierrez, and Betty Luna; her siblings Ruth Motah Toahty, Martha Irving, Donald Burgess, Ronald Burgess, and Gaylon Motah, and Leora Burgess; her grandchildren Tanya Sapcutt,kaydence Sapcutt and Summer Sapcutt, Denise Tafoya, Chris Tafoya, Aiden Guiterrez, Dominic Tafoya, Dominic Guiterrez Autumn Guiterrez,Elgin Whiteman ,Cameron Guiterrez, Jaynaya, Asia, and Amanda Tafoya, Glen Guiterrez, Shanna Guiterrez, and Glorianne Gutierrez, Kember Guiterrez, Westin Chavarria, Wayne Weahkee, and Katie Weahkee; her niece Mary Motah, her nephew Norman Motah and numerous others who loved her.

Juliene was a proud graduate of Elgin High School, class of 1950. Her love for helping others and her compassionate heart led her to earn her nurse assistant certification in 1965. Juliene was an active member of the My Scott Comanche United Methodist Church.

Juliene had an undeniable zest for life. She was an avid track and field participant and enjoyed keeping fit by running. She had a unique love for the vibrant color fuchsia pink and possessed a refined taste for beans, Spanish food, and Freddy's. Juliene's beverage of choice was always a can of Diet Coke and her favorite book was the Bible.

Her love for Perry Como's music was well known to those around her, as was her fondness for the TV show 'Highway to Heaven. A fan of Pueblo art, she similarly enjoyed watching Pueblo dances and pow wow performances. One of her beloved pastimes was word search and she found joy in the thrill of the casino. A true fan of the Thunder sports team, Juliene's favorite place to be was her hometown, Lawton, Oklahoma, especially during a Powwow or gourd dancing events.

Her life and her causes centered around nursing and helping others, a testament to the wonderful person she was. Juliene's legacy of love, compassion, and selflessness will continue to inspire and guide those she has left behind.

A funeral service will be held in her honor on June 5, 2025, at 9:00 AM at the Comanche Nation United Methodist Church 9817 NW 4 Mile Rd, Lawton, OK 73507, United States .  We invite all those who knew and loved Juliene to join us in commemorating her life and saying our final goodbyes.
