Julie's obituary
With the heaviest of hearts - we regret to share that Julie Shubel, 58, laid down for her final rest on Friday, May 23rd with all of her family at her side, just like she wanted. 💗 Her last days were spent at Hurley Hospital in Flint, battling the very aggressive cancer she was diagnosed with last year.
Julie was born November 25, 1966 and grew up in Howell, Michigan where she met the love of her life-Kurt. In 1988, they married & shared an amazing 37 years together and built a life anyone would be proud of. Together, they built & operated multiple successful businesses, one of which being her & her dad’s lifelong dream of a horse farm. This passion grew her an unexpected family of friends, whom she looked forward to helping & seeing daily. She truly was living the life she wanted and loved.
To be loved by Julie, was to be loved unconditionally and entirely. She was so fierce in the best way possible and in everything she did. She really was that once-in-lifetime, genuine, tough-loving woman that every person needs in their lives. She wore so many hats: wife, mom, sister, aunt, niece, 4H leader, coach, trainer, friend to so many… I could go on and on. And while her family was always in the forefront of her thoughts, the horse world came in a very close second. She loved being the entire “village” all by herself. You called, she answered. Had a problem, she helped fix it. If you needed an ear to talk to, she had the biggest shoulders. If you needed a hand up, she gave you a knee up. If you needed grounding, she often had a horse waiting. If you needed some motivation, she was there with a kick in the ass. She was the glue to the family; and there wasn’t a single day that she didn’t make sure those around her felt her love in one way or another. Simply put, she really was the best. 💜
While her battle is over - we are all so proud of her fight. She was dealt such an unfair hand, and she faced it with such grace & commitment. We find a lot of comfort in knowing her Dad welcomed her with open arms & saddled horses, ready to explore the trails. Until we see you again...ride on and keep everyone in line up there, Ma. We love & miss you so much already. 💜
