Julie's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Julie Gabledone-Cosby, on November 24, 2025. Born in Madrid, Spain, on October 10, 1941, Julie lived a life of immense accomplishment and deep love for her family.
Julie graduated with a Ph.D in Employment Law from Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, in 1963, a reflection of her keen intellect and drive. Pursuing a career in her field, she retired from a successful tenure as AAFES VP of Operations in 2019.
In her personal life, Julie met and married the love of her life who served in the military. Together, they raised six incredibly cherished children: Matthew, Jason, Robert, Elysia, Maria, and Emelio Cosby. As a mother, Julie was warm and loving, characteristics that endeared her to not only her children but to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was also a devoted attendee of St. Jude Catholic Church which was a cornerstone of her faith and community.
Amongst her greatest accomplishments, Julie was particularly proud of her Harvard Law degree. Yet, undoubtedly, her proudest achievements lay within the bonds of her family: she leaves an enduring legacy evident in her 23 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished deeply.
Julie was a beacon of strength, resilience and love for her family and will be deeply missed. Her memorial service will be held at one of the family’s ranches in Waco, Texas. Julie's remains will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Indiana, marking a serene end to a rich and fulfilling life.
In memory of Julie, we recall her life with profound respect and enduring love. While we mourn her passing, we celebrate her life and the indelible mark she left on this world.
