Julie Brock Artis, 74, a 20-year resident of Culpeper, passed away on October 19, 2023 from medical complications. As she took her last breath, she was surrounded by her loved ones and the phenomenal nurses of Fair Oaks Hospital. Born in Houston, TX, she was a 35-year special education teacher and flutist in a local orchestra, always putting others before herself. Although unexpected events took her from this world too soon, her loving heart left a beacon of light for all in the Culpeper community and beyond. In fact, Julie’s unwavering lobbying for new sidewalks on Route 522 in town will leave a legacy that many will use for years to come.

Most of all, many will remember how Julie’s laugh could change the energy of an entire room. She is survived by her two children Melanie and David, and husband Ronald.
