Julian's obituary

Julian’s story and life was one filled with many chapters. He will be remembered for Living life to its fullest. From his early years growing up in the Bronx to his late teens in the Navy. From his days working in the Empire State Building, to the time spent on the beaches of Santa Monica. Julian could adapt, and thrive in any environment.

To those close to him, he was the king of the NYC cab whistle. The world revolved around the next meal and the next adventure. A lover of peking duck and a regular at Angelos in NYC’s Little Italy. A “cool” at home cook (before it was trendy), who never made a dish without the perfect combination of garlic and onion, with a side of butter and oil.

He could both rock a Jewish Afro and carve a mean pumpkin. He was the real life Patrick Swazey, working and performing in the Catskills under the name Hal Julian a The Mambo Aces. There is not a war movie he had not seen or “Free” Action thriller he was not ready to watch.

Julian was the quintessential salesman. He traveled the world through his many years in the shoe business. There was not a person he did not know, and a true legend in the industry. He loved opening up the 3 Capezio Stores, and was a best friend to anyone who was a size 6.

Family was a dinner table, his loved ones filling the chairs, laughing, sharing stories and jokes of past and present. He would always close out the evening by leaning over to his wife and saying,  “You and the kids are the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

He will be survived by his wife Susie, his three children, Beth, Ben and Ken, and his 5 grandchildren, Zander, Nicholas, Oliver, Evan and Brendan. He left his mark on this life.
