Julia's obituary
Julia Woolley Smith, 97, of Bountiful, UT, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 22, 2023.
Julia was born on April 28th, 1926 to Gordon and Hazel Woolley. Julia married the love of her life Donald Eugene Smith & together they welcomed 4 children, Shellee (Clements), Lauree (Simpson), Carol (Sessions) & Blaine Smith.
Julia was a school teacher and solely taught 2nd grade throughout her entire career & had a strong, undying passion for teaching. She was well loved by her students and to this day many still mention it in conversation with her children. She was an exceptional gardener and had many different kinds of fruits and vegetables that she grew in her yard including raspberries, grapes, zucchini, carrots, strawberries, ruhbar, green beans, peaches, apirocots and pears. She often served her crops at dinner and everyone loved them.
Julia was a professional roller skater and enjoyed all that encompassed that sport. Julia served weekly in the temple up until she was literally too old to work there. She served two missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, one in Washington & the other in South Carolina.
She was always down for an adventure, and always wanted to laugh. She was always welcoming and entertaining/hosting people as they came into town. She was an optimistic woman and always saw the good in every situation.
She was welcomed to her heavenly home by her: husband, Don, parents, sisters, Larona, Idalee, Twin sister Joyce, and her brother Gordon. She is survived by her children: Shellee (Bruce) Clements, Lauree Simpson, Carol (Bruce) Sessions, Blaine (Kris) Smith, 17 grandchildren, and a growing number of great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the Bountiful 20th Ward, 102 East 1400 South, Bountiful, Utah. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah, and Saturday morning from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment- Bountiful City Cemetery.
Services will be streamed live on the Russon Brothers Mortuary Facebook page and on this obituary page. The live stream will begin about 10-15 minutes prior to the service and will be posted below.
