Judy's obituary

In Loving Memory of Judy Lynn Wheeler

August 14, 1946 – April 18, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Judy Lynn Wheeler, who fell asleep in death on April 18, 2025, at the age of 78.

Born on August 14, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, Judy was the daughter of Harold and Juanita Wheeler. She came from a rich spiritual heritage—her grandparents on both the Wheeler side and the Ethridge side were devoted worshippers of Jehovah as early as the 1900s. She dedicated herself to Jehovah and was baptized as one of His Witnesses, living faithfully by His promises until her final day.

Though Judy never married or had children of her own, she cared for her beloved mother, Juanita, until her passing. Her devotion to her mother and faith were cornerstones of her life. Even as the Wheeler family eventually spread across the country, Judy made every effort to stay connected. Whether through visits, phone calls, or cards, she kept an eye on the kids, offering her unique blend of tough-loving concern, wit, and guidance.

Judy is survived by her brother, Jim Wheeler, Sr., her sister, Joy Minnis. She was a beloved aunt to six nephews—Jimmy and Kenny Wheeler, and Johnny, Bobby, Dean, and Charlie Minnis and only one niece, Susan Wheeler. She is also survived her devoted grand-niece Sarah Crotzer and a host of grand-nieces and grand-nephews who will filled her photo albums and graced the walls of her home.

Known for her outgoing and outspoken nature, Judy had a loud, infectious laugh that could brighten any room. Her singing voice carried across the congregation, a powerful expression of her joy and love for Jehovah. She was unafraid to speak her mind and always did so with honesty, humor, and a sense of realness that her friends cherished. Though strong in her convictions, Judy was also deeply compassionate. She spoke her mind with honesty, but always from a place of love. She was the kind of person who made you feel seen, heard, and cared for.

She was deeply loved, and while we mourn her absence, we take comfort in the promise of a resurrection and the time when “death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.” —Revelation 21:4
