One of my favorite memories is riding in the back of my aunt Judy’s old Volvo when she lived in Adamsville, Tennessee. Me and my two brothers would go spend the weekend with grandma and Judy. Judy would teach us board games while grandma would be always measuring us and fitting us for something she was sewing. We’d run outside and play underneath this giant tree that was filled with these fun little caterpillars. I remember holding up the leaves and watching them munch munch munch. I get a pocket full of them and try to come inside, but Judy make me take them out and put them back.

When it was time to go to the meeting, this was the best part because I’d be wearing the most beautiful dress with some pretty embroidering that grandma had made, and Judy was at the wheel of that Volvo. And you’d see that gleam in her eye as she put the pedal to the metal and start racing up the hill. You’d hear grandma Wheeler’s high-pitched squeal: “Ooohhh!!! JUDY!?!?!!” just as the car hit the top of that hill and we flew over the train tracks! The car felt like it literally did a Dukes of Hazzard jump in the air! As kids we were in heaven butterflies, all in our tummies giggling as we tumbled all around the backseat, trying to hang on for dear life! This was the best roller coaster in the world! And that SLAM! THUNK!! When car made contact on the road on the other side was awesome! Judy was our superhero that day.

Aunt Judy’s strong opinions drew lines yet she stood on principles that she learned her life through that were mostly guided by Jehovah‘s word the Bible. She opened her home to me on more than one occasion, and that is enough to earn my respect and honor for her. She told me repeatedly that the decision to remain single was to be available to take care of her mother my grandmother, Juanita Wheeler.  Her sacrifice in that way does not go unnoticed. Seeing her again in the very near future is the relief and joy Jehovah provides all those who trust him as she did.  As the apostle Paul said concerning the resurrection, to the congregation in Corinth, “Death is swallowed up forever.  Death, where is your victory? Death, where is your sting?”  She will be missed, but not for very long!

I am sorry about the loss of Judy. I appreciated how faithfully Judy attended meetings. She would always say Jesus is my King and he says go to meetings and that's what I do.She would pray to get there when she was sick.I will miss Judy and look forward to seeing her in the New World.

Aunt Judy always made you feel seen, and heard as a child. My childhood is filled with her random acts of Judyness!
