Judi was born and raised in Waseca, MN graduating Waseca High School exceling in many things, but especially proud of lettering in cheerleading three of those years. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from St. Cloud State University. She used that degree to become a social worker in various parts of the state of Minnesota helping has many people as she could. She retired from the State of Minnesota Human Services Dept as a State Program Administrator Principal where she continued her fight for fairness through policy creation.
She had a tremendous love for travel and all the experiences that one has seeing other parts of the United States along with overseas travel to England and Scotland. Judi was a worldly person in her own right sharing wisdom she had gleaned through her life experiences. She was a courageous, intelligent, beautiful person often ahead of her time in personal independence. Her guidance, dry humor, artistic talent in many mediums, and her ability to know how to correctly spell all the words in the dictionary are just a few of the things that will be missing from this world. She is now reunited with two of her most cherished family being her son, Johnathon Dale Szyszka and her mother, Fern Marie Papke. Her light will be carried on by her daughter, Brandi Jo Szyszka Brooks, her sisters Linda Hood and Kim Matz who brought their own light to help her see through the darkness while battling the disease. She will be missed by her brothers Jimmy Larsen, Rick Papke, Mike Simmons, and reunited with her brother Bobby Larsen. Family has had multiple celebrations of life and will continue to tell stories of her life and how she helped influence those around her.
