Judy's obituary
Judith Jean Henning Stratton (Judy), age 73, peacefully passed away at home in Wayne on January 19, 2024. Her family was nearby.
The daughter of Elwood and Jean Henning, Judy was born on October 15, 1950 in Orange, New Jersey and was raised in Westfield, New Jersey, where she attended public schools and graduated from Westfield High School in 1968. She earned a bachelor degree in history from Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania and a masters degree in counselling at Lewis University in Romeoville. She married Anthony P Stratton in 1975, and would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary in September.
Judy worked for Sargent & Lundy Engineers in Chicago as an administrator, and subsequently as teacher and counselor for Addison Trails High School and Hiawatha High School. For her entire life Judy was sincerely committed to the Lutheran Church and actively participated in the life of a local congregation wherever she lived.
Judy is survived by: her husband, Tony; two children, Aaron Stratton of Irvine, California, and Nathan Stratton of Seattle, Washington; Nathan’s wife Stephanie and their daughter Hazel Stratton; and Judy’s brother, Elwood (“Bud”) Henning and his wife Joanne both of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 23W080 Butterfield Road, Glen Ellyn, Illinois on April 20th, 2024 starting at 10:30am.
The family requests that donations in Judy’s memory be made to Rush University’s “Without Warning Young-Onset Alzheimer’s Support Group” which has sustained Judy and Tony for 10 years.
