Judy's obituary
Judy Orvis, 84, was born October 21, 1939 she passed peacefully February 29th, 2024 in Otis Orchards, Wa alongside her family.
Judy was preceded in death by her daughter Andrea Orvis-Bevacqua and parents Charles Jaap and Judith Jaap. She is survived by her husband Donald Orvis, sister Ruth Marcy of Anchorage Alaska, brother Bill Jaap and wife Sharon Cantrell-Jaap of Longmont Colorado, and grandson Michael Bevacqua, granddaughter in law Angie Bevacqua, and great grandchildren Zack and Julianna Bevacqua of Spokane Valley, Wa.
Judy was born in Salt Lake city, Utah She was raised by her grandmother while her Dad a mining engineer and mother worked full time. Her family resided in Pasadena California where she enjoyed living on the farm with her two siblings. Her family settled here in the Trentwood area of the Spokane Valley in the early 1940's. She enjoyed being apart of the 4H club and even received awards for her beautiful Arabian prized horses. She met her husband Don in 1955 at her sister's wedding. She graduated from West Valley High School in 1958 and married the love of her life Don. They raised one daughter, Andrea together and would be married for sixty six years this May.
Judy retired from Fred Meyer after 42 years as the secretary for the President and Vice President of the company. She worked many years at Round Up before that, and as the editor for the Navy newsletter called The Landings.
Judy had a wide variety of hobbies that she enjoyed, including taking photos of nature and family, collecting frog memorabilia and In her younger years she loved riding and showing her three beloved Arabian horses.
She and her husband Don enjoyed carving with the Spokane Woodcarvers Association, and are active sponsors of the Spokane Camaro Club, founded by their daughter Andrea. They enjoyed staying active and social taking vacations all over the country with their daughter Andrea and later grandson Mike in tow in their travel trailer with the Volkswalk club.
Judy will be greatly missed by her family and loved ones. She will be remembered as always having a love for her family, her spunk, quick wit, and big heart. Those that knew her well know she always had the last say and took care of everyone else. In her last few years it was our turn to take care of her after her being diagnosed with Alziemers in 2021. Whenever we see a frog we'll think of Judy. Shell will always be in our hearts and never forgotten. ♥️
