Judith's obituary

Judith Ann Murphy (Judy), age 77, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020 in South San Francisco, CA. She died peacefully in her sleep after suffering with health issues over the past year. Judy was born in April of 1943 in San Francisco to the parents of Richard and Margaret Blanton and had two brothers Richie and Daniel. She graduated from South San Francisco High School and married Edward Francis Murphy on June 3, 1967. She worked as a daycare provider so she could be home with her children. She later worked for Vector Laboratory as a lab technician and retired from Vector in 2015. She loved her time at Vector and her colleagues.
Judy lived in South San Francisco in the same home since 1970. She was a longtime member of the Rosary Group affiliated with St. Veronica’s Church. She loved all things Irish and was proud of her Irish heritage. She was a member of the United Irish Cultural Center in San Francisco. Judy had a love for shopping, which is an understatement. She was a passionate antique shopper who was always on the hunt for Belleek china or Waterford crystal. She was the most generous person and didn’t think twice about picking up a check. She enjoyed eating out at local restaurants and having family dinners to celebrate birthdays or events or just celebrate any typical day of the week. Judy was a fiery, zestful, wonderful woman with an outspoken sense of humor that made everyone around her laugh out loud. She left everyone with a smile after engaging with her.
Judy’s husband, Edward, passed away in 2006. She is survived by her daughter, Julie Mizzi (husband Glenn Mizzi, grandsons Ethan and Shane) son, Kevin Murphy (wife Jenny Murphy, granddaughter Brooke and grandson Jack) and son, Michael Murphy (fiancé Felicia Brown and grandson Gideon) brother, Steve Patti and brother, Daniel Blanton (nephew Forest Fernandez).

Funeral Service will be on Monday, January 4, 2021 at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave, Daly City, CA 94014 from 9am to 11am with burial service immediately following at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 1500 Mission Rd, Colma, CA 94014 beginning at 11:30am and ending at 12:00pm.

On behalf of the Murphy family, we want to thank each and everyone of you who have offered support and love through these most difficult times. Our mother was loved by many and impacted so many lives by who she was.
Sometimes in life it’s important to try to fit in. In our mom’s life she made it a point to stand out. We love you MOM! Rest peacefully! Until we see each other again.
