Judy's obituary
Judith Ann “Judy” McKeehan (née Haas), age 78, of Cheney, Washington, passed away on November 8, 2025, in Bonney Lake, Washington. She was born on July 18, 1947, in Bloomington, Indiana.
Judy’s early years were marked by travel and academic pursuits. After moving with her family from Indiana to Riverside, California—where her brother Joe was born—they settled in Cheney while her father taught at Eastern Washington University. The family later moved to Seattle as her father pursued his PhD at the University of Washington. From 1958 to 1961, they lived in Pakistan, an experience Judy cherished throughout her life. In 1961, they returned to Spokane, where she graduated from Mead High School in 1965.
She pursued higher education at Indiana University and Temple University before earning both a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Fine Arts in Art Education from Eastern Washington University. Judy dedicated 15 years to teaching art and reading at Medical Lake Middle School and was named Washington State Secondary Art Teacher of the Year in 1993. She later taught at EWU for four years before retiring in 1999 due to a brain tumor.
Judy married Raymond “Bud” Duvall, with whom she had two sons: Daegen Douglass Duvall and Matthew David Duvall. In the 1970s, she met P. Michael McKeehan; they married and shared 38 years together until his passing in 2012. Together, they had two children: Kathleen Sara McKeehan and Patrick Michael McKeehan II. They raised their family in Cheney, also caring for two foster sons, Ronny and Jeremy, and Daegen’s best friend, John Barrom.
A gifted artist working primarily in watercolor and colored pencil, Judy also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and card-making. Her Catholic faith was central to her life; she was an active member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cheney.
She is remembered by her children, Daegen (Renee), Matt (Melissa), Katie (Carl), and Patrick (Janalyn); her brother Joe Haas (Barb); twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many close friends.
Judy’s life will be celebrated on June 19, 2026, at 9:00 AM at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 460 N. 5th St., Cheney, with a reception following at Salnave Park (Covered area).
