High School where she played piano with the orchestra and for numerous drama productions. She then
attended the University of Southern Mississippi where she graduated with Bachelors’ degrees in Music
Education and Piano Performance and then moved on to earn her Master’s degree in Music from
California State University of Los Angeles. Judy married her college sweetheart, Reverend Jerry M.

years, served as a piano instructor at Lee University and Cleveland State University, Cleveland,
Tennessee, and as a music educator with the Mobile County Public School System from which she

remembered by many as their favorite music teacher. In addition to her teaching, she loved working in the
ministry and serving the church with her husband, Reverend Island, as they led the ministry at Overlook
Christian Church. Outside of her work, Judy loved to cook, play games, entertain, make music, watch
