Judith's obituary
Judith Francis Haus passed away on October 13th in Grand Rapids, MI after a long illness.
Judy was born to Roy and Francis Gautz in Dearborn MI in 1939. As a girl she loved dance, animals (including a pet raccoon) and waterskiing in the summers at the lakeside resort her parents owned. She graduated from Lowry High School in Dearborn MI where she had met her lifelong love Kenneth Haus. They both attended the University of Michigan where they were married in 1960 and from which she graduated in 1961. After a few years of sharing Kens US Navy service with stations in Georgia, Newfoundland and Washington DC, they settled in Midland MI where they raised their two children. She was a dedicated and loving mother and wife and always put her families needs first. She was active in service to Trinity Lutheran Church and many other community organizations. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, cooking and summer weekends camping, fishing, windsurfing, swimming and traveling. After Kens retirement they traveled the world, visiting every continent except Antarctica. They also moved to Walhalla MI to live full time in their lake cabin where they hosted family gatherings and enjoyed their neighbors company. They escaped Michigan winters like many of the birds they loved to feed and wintered at Mariner Sands in Stuart FL. There she continued to enjoy swimming, tennis and croquet and feeding the birds and squirrels. She served the community by delivering meals on wheels and by sewing shawls for veterans. Judy was predeceased by her parents and her two brothers Jim and Gerald. She is survived by her husband of 64 years Kenneth Haus, her two children Brian Haus and Gail Rogers and grandchildren Alex Rogers, Emilia Haus, Lucas Haus, Sammy Saylor and Vince Rogers.
