Judy's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Judith "Judy" Gosnell. Born on May 5, 1939, Judy departed peacefully from this world on November 26, 2023. An unforgettable figure in her communities and the lives of those lucky enough to know her, Judy leaves behind a legacy of love, learning, and connection.
A cherished mother, Judy is survived by her devoted daughters and son, Julie Bolder, Michelle Roundy and Blake Shellabarger as well as her two granddaughters Katie Denton and Emily Roundy. Judy loved her children and grandchildren very much. She had a very special connection to her first granddaughter, Katie.
As a dedicated teacher who spent two decades shaping the minds of second and third graders, Judy’s infectious enthusiasm and boundless interest in the world around her made learning a joy for her students. "Always be a learner," she would say, instilling in them not only knowledge but a lifelong love for discovery. Judy's passion for education was only surpassed by her dedication to service. She dedicated countless hours to the Rubtsovsk, Russia sister city program in Grants Pass, Oregon, a testament to her expansive heart and commitment to fostering global understanding.
Judy traveled to Russia multiple times to fulfill her lifetime passion for the Russian people and their culture. She made many lifelong friends who continued to connect with her. Judy also brought many friends and her daughter Michelle to Russia with her and the connections they made still exist today.
Driven by her enthusiasm for art and her innate ability to connect with people, Judy's most lasting legacy is perhaps the sense of community she nurtured wherever she went. Her vibrant spirit touched everyone she met, and she had an exceptional ability to make people feel seen, heard, and valued. People in the communities where she lived will undoubtedly have a special place in their hearts filled with memories of Judy.
To celebrate Judy's extraordinary life, a service will be held on June 22, 2024, at 11:00 AM in Newport, Oregon. All who knew Judy are welcome to join us in remembering this remarkable woman. In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that you consider making a donation to the "Samoyed Club of America Education & Research Foundation." This cause, which was close to Judy's heart, continues to support the work that she so cherished. Donations can be made at the following web address: https://everloved.com/life-of…

Judy, your spirit will forever live on in the lessons you've imparted, in the lives you've touched, and in the world you've left better than you found it.
