Judy's obituary
Judith “Judy” F. Miller, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026. Born in Edwardsville, Illinois to Bruce and Ruby Fiegenbaum, Judy lived a life marked by creativity, service, resilience, and deep devotion to her family. She spent many cherished years as a resident of Columbia, Maryland, where she built community, raised her family, and shared her many talents. In her later years, she enjoyed the warmth, friendships, and supportive community at Charlestown Senior Living in Catonsville, Maryland.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband, George P. Miller, who passed away in 2016. She is survived by her sister Harriet Fiegenbaum; her daughter Karen Long and son‑in‑law John Long; her son Tom Miller and daughter‑in‑law Bethany Miller; her grandchildren Sarah (Long) Karnov and husband Brian Karnov, Andrew Long, and Quin Miller; and her great‑granddaughter Juliette Karnov. She cherished each of them deeply and took great pride in being an involved and loving grandmother.
A longtime member of St. John United Methodist‑Presbyterian Church in Columbia, Judy devoted many years to serving on church committees and sharing her musical gifts as the pianist for the church choir. Her faith community was a central part of her life and a place where she built lasting friendships.
Judy was an award‑winning quilter and an active member of the Faithful Circle Quilters and Kaleidoscope Quilting group, where her artistry and attention to detail were admired by many. She approached quilting the same way she approached life—with patience, creativity, and a desire to bring beauty into the world.
A two‑time cancer survivor, Judy embodied strength and perseverance. She loved to travel and especially treasured the two years she spent living in Hong Kong in the early 1980s, an experience she often described with delight. At home, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, cheering for the Baltimore Orioles, volunteering at the Charlestown library and spending time with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Judy’s warmth and generosity touched everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A celebration of life service will be held at St John United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in early June.
