Judy Cole's obituary
Judy was born on April 7th, 1948, to George & Frances Nickel, in Virden, Illinois. Judy was the 'baby' of the family, and they doted on her!
When Judy was around 10 years old, the family moved out west to California, settling in La Habra. It was there, when Judy was around 13 years old, that she first met the young man who she would someday marry: Cameron Cole (known as Cam). The couple expanded their little family by welcoming first a daughter, Cammi, and later a son, Toby.
Family was everything to Judy. She cherished her new "Cole" family, but also her parents, her sister, Jean, and her brother, Willie, plus their spouses and children were all adored! Judy also kept in close contact with her extended family, and especially loved going to Nickel family reunions in Illinois. She loved her cousins dearly and remained close her whole life.
Judy & Cam raised their family in La Habra Heights, and then later moved to the tiny city of Rainbow, California, for the last 20 years. Judy loved both of those homes. She especially loved collecting 'rainbow' items after moving there!
Besides family and rainbows, Judy loved animals. The Cole's had horses for a time when the kids were younger, millions of cats through the years, and many faithful and extremely loved dogs. Judy could never say no to a dog!
Before her passing, Judy requested that in lieu of flowers, she would like for people to do something for animals such as "buy a bag of dog food or something". We have included a donation button here (under the "Give" tab) for the Animal Welfare Institute who have a solid reputation for working on all fronts to help animals.... including buying dog food for those in need.
Judy was preceeded in death by her parents, George & Frances Nickel, her sister Betty, her brother Willie, and her husband, Cam, who died three months after they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. In a twist of fate, Judy's death was on the same day (7 years later) that Cam passed away, January 2nd.
Judy is survived by her sister Jean Steen, her children Cammi Cole and Toby Cole, her grandchildren Jacob Keller, Tanner Cole, and Kaylan Cole, and her great grandchildren Mary Miller and Dean Keller. She is also survived by son in law John Armes, daughter in law Catherine Cole, granddaughter in law Janna Keller, and her great granddaughter's mother Makenna Miller.
