It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Judith Anne “Carrick” Romero, 76, of Cave Creek, AZ. Judy went peacefully, surrounded by her family on December 22, 2021.
Judy was born in Trenton, NJ to parents Helena “Betty” Brown (deceased) and Ralph Wollenzier (deceased) on Feb. 23, 1945. Judy attended John Marshall High School in Cleveland, OH. She married her first husband, Robert J Carrick, and bore three children: John, Jody, and Jimmy in Cleveland/Parma, OH. After a brief stop in Clearwater Beach, FL Judy moved her family to Cave Creek, AZ in the late 1970s.
Judy was predeceased by her husband, Guadalupe Romero and her sisters Mary Lou Bottomfield and Gail Kenny. She is survived by her children Jody Laughlin, John Carrick, and James “Jimmy” Carrick; her grandchildren and great grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews.
Judy was passionate, caring, and selfless. Despite raising three children as a single mother, Judy worked full-time as a secretary, real-estate agent, and property manager to ensure her children never went without. Judy was a kind soul that always made time to help out her family and friends. She was quick with a smile, a helping hand, and kind word. She loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends. Judy, better known as G-Ma, watched her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at every opportunity. She loved her family with all her heart and will be missed by family and friends!
The family will host a Celebration of Life on Saturday, February 19, 2022 – Time and place will be shared in the near future.
