Judy's obituary

On March 8, 2023, Judith Anne Burton (Judy) passed away at her home in Prosser, WA at age 81 after a battle with metastatic breast cancer.

Judy was born on April 30, 1941 in California. She met her husband Jack Burton in Petersburg, Alaska in 1970, joining their families and starting an epic love story. They lived in Alaska and Washington, worked together everyday throughout their lives, ran a farm as a hobby, and traveled. After retirement, Judy continued to volunteer at Hobs Hospice Benefit Shop for over 20 years. She proudly supported veterans along with Shriners, St. Jude’s, Wounded Warriors, and Tunnels to Towers, and she was also a fierce advocate for yearly mammograms.

Judy “adopted” many people over the years, helping out and welcoming everyone who walked through her doors: nieces, nephews, cousins, friends — all were welcome and loved when in her home. While Judy was a great mother and wife, God made her to be a grandmother. Her light would shine even brighter loving on her “grands and great-grands.” Joy was found in her kitchen, and she loved having family over to eat and visit. The amount of family she leaves behind is too many to list, as everyone who met Judy became family.

A celebration of Judy’s life will be held on May 20. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s or Shriners.
