Juanita's obituary
Juanita McAlpine, age 83, from Macomb Twp., MI, and formerly from Crozet, VA, passed away quietly in her sleep on Monday, January 30, 2023, of natural causes. Juanita was born August 18, 1939 in Rockhouse, KY to Golden and Flora R. (Lester) Adkins. Juanita is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth to whom she was happily married to for almost 40 years. During her career, Juanita worked as secretary to the Superintendent of the DPW for the City of Sterling Heights, MI, where she retired after 18 years of service. Reflecting her love of travel and sense of adventure, Juanita lived in eight different cities within four different states, as she built a life with her husband Ken. Juanita was a gifted planner, well organized and meticulous with anything that she touched. She loved to spoil the many pets that she owned and share advice to those she thought she might help. Her strong will, quick wit and tremendous sense of humor will be missed by the many she touched.
Juanita is survived by two children: Jeffery Armstrong (Joan) and Mark Armstrong (Mary); four stepchildren; Susan Woodhouse (Daniel), Karen McAlpine, Jennifer Neiman (Keith), Kenneth McAlpine Jr. (Barbara); her siblings; Foster G. Adkins (Marilyn), Genevieve Evennou (Louis “Mickey”); eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Charles R. Adkins.
A Memorial Service, in her honor, will be held Thursday, March 16th. Visitation: 9:30 am until the time of Mass 11:00 am at Wasik Funeral Home, 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (N. of 22 Mile Rd.), Shelby Twp., MI. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, in her name.
