Juanita's obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Mrs. Juanita Science Ellis, on September 27, 2023 surrounded by her loving family after a short battle with brain and esophageal cancer.  Born on November 20, 1947, to the late Dorothy (Thompson) Watts, Juanita lived a life full of love, joy, and accomplishments.

Juanita graduated from Allegan High School in Allegan, Michigan in 1965.  She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in radiologic technology from Ferris State University and worked in the medical field for over 30 years, demonstrating her perseverance and dedication.  She was united in marriage to Dewey Ellis on June 28th, 1997 and they have enjoyed many loving years together.

Juanita loved raising her children and was blessed with 4 grandchildren.  She enjoyed every moment with her grandchildren and rarely missed an event they were involved in.  She enjoyed baking, cake decorating, and celebrating the holidays.  Enjoying the company of friends and family was always a highlight for her.  Juanita was a beacon of strength and love. Her radiant personality touched everyone around her and she will be remembered fondly for her unwavering spirit and generous heart.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Dewey Ellis; her children, Kevin (Shawnette Gutzman) Anderson, of Paw Paw, MI, Cassondra (Ryan) Kovach of Cottage Grove, WI, her step-sons, Dewey (Cathy) Ellis Jr. of Las Vegas, NV, and David Ellis of Las Vegas, NV.  She was revered by her grandchildren, Caleb (Kassidy Earhart) Kovach, Landen Kovach, Montgomrie Kovach, and Zachary (Margaret) Ellis who will cherish her memory in their hearts forever.

Juanita was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Watts, and step-father, Joseph Watts as well as her grandparents and many aunts and uncles. Her legacy of love and strength will continue to live on through her family, friends, and all the lives she touched.

Her absence leaves a void that will never be filled, but her memory will forever remain alive in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Juanita's life was a testament to the power of love and strength, and she leaves us all with an indelible impression of the courage and tenacity with which she lived her life.
