My deepest condolences for your family's loss. Mr. Whyte was an amazing teacher that opened doors for hundreds of Montclair High students through his innovative and interactive teaching style. I've kept every book from his AP Literature class and will treasure them even more now. Best wishes to you all and may he rest in peace.
Mr. Whyte was the reason I became an English teacher. He inspired me to think outside the box, question everything, and more. I’ll forever remember his “minus 5 points.”  I’m so saddened to hear about his passing and hold all his loved ones in prayer during this difficult time. Rest in peace Mr. Whyte. Minus 5 points.
Brotha Whyte brought life to any situation and every conversation!!  That life will continue through his children, his students, and all who encountered him!!  I thank you for all of your wisdom and for introducing me to one of my heroes, Dolores Huerta!  I love you brotha and I will always honor your greatness at Montclair High School.

Rest easy, Mr. Whyte. Thank you for teaching me to see beyond the page, to understand symbolism, depth, and the quiet complexity of stories, and of the world itself. Your lessons never faded; I still carry them with me and speak of your impact to this very day. You changed the way I read, think, and understand life. Forever grateful.
I'm so incredibly sorry about your daddy's passing. My heart goes out to you during this unbelievably difficult time. Sending you so much love and strength. Remember all the wonderful memories you shared, they'll always be with you. Please lean on your friends and family for support. 💔 Thinking of you. #GriefSupport #SendingLove #FamilyIsEverything

Mr. Whyte was the best teacher at Montclair. He pushed me to become a better scholar and made me believe in myself. Because of him I attended college and now I am a teacher.

There are so many memories I have of him in 11th grade English,  AP Lit and Journalism but my favorite is him welcoming his students at the door every day and saying "minus 5 points" when students were not on task. He was my favorite teacher.

He will always be remembered!

Mr. Whyte has made a difference in my life during high school. His memory will live on to me and my family. God Bless You 💕🙏 My Condolences.
I am so sorry!  It was an honor to teach with Juan. He was very special and we missed him at MHS. One sweet memory is when I saw Juan stranded in Baseline with a broken down car. Of course I stopped and gave him a ride to work. He was so grateful as if I had done something extraordinary. He would have done the same for me.
Such a great teacher that made such an impact in a lot of our lives. He will always be remembered. My condolences to your family.
May happy memories replace the sad. 🦋
